Balayage vs. Foil Highlights

Balayage is a freehand technique where lightener is hand-painted onto the surface of the hair, creating soft, graduated brightness that is heaviest toward the ends. Because the color is swept on rather than saturated from the root, balayage grows out with a gentle, blended transition and very little visible regrowth line.

Foil highlights wrap selected strands in foil to lighten them fully from root to tip, producing brighter, more uniform, and more saturated lift. Foils are ideal when you want maximum brightness, consistent placement, or a more traditional highlighted look. Many clients combine both techniques for the best of dimension and brightness.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

3. 3Lightener is applied by hand or in foils with attention to your face shape and hair texture.
4. 4Once your desired lift is reached, we rinse and apply a custom toner or gloss to refine the tone.
5. 5We finish with a conditioning treatment and a blow-dry to reveal your dimension.

Caring for Lightened Hair

• Use purple or blue toning shampoo as recommended to keep tones cool and bright
• Apply a weekly bond-building or deep-conditioning mask to support lightened strands
• Always use heat protectant and keep styling temperatures moderate
• Limit chlorine and salt-water exposure, and rinse promptly after swimming
• Book a gloss or toner refresh between full appointments to maintain your color
